The same poll found voters split on who they would prefer, with 39% choosing Netanyahu and 38% choosing Eisenkot. That is a narrow gap, and it is a preference question. It is not an election result or a formal appointment. Separate reports dated 27 September said Netanyahu's bloc was trailing the opposition camp in recent polling, so the picture is close and not settled. The opposition has also moved to tighten its ranks. The same reporting says they did not agree on how to form a government, so this is coordination and not a finished coalition. Netanyahu's own response, a post on X saying only a strong Likud would stop the opposition, is a campaign statement and not evidence of the outcome. The election is scheduled for 27 October. The thing to watch is whether the opposition bloc can turn its pact into a shared plan for forming a government, or whether Netanyahu's bloc pulls ahead in later polls.
